Evolution of a Smile

Before Its Too Late!

Before it is too late, I need to record some of our fun stuff over the past week or so.  Sam is still working to get my computer up to speed in receiving the photos taken on the new-fangled camera–which, btw, makes one seem like they know what they are doing when taking shots.  So for now, I only have my own pictures from Instagram.

Last week we finished Christmas shopping, I somehow collected all I needed for our gingerbread neighborhood party, got stocking stuffers wrapped, took kids for checkups and shots, stayed warm, made teacher gifts, and even got to the gym.  By Friday afternoon, all there was to do was enjoy the weekend.

Here’s shots from the week:

NUTCRACKER 2012

You know in the movie Elf when Buddy the Elf sees the department store Santa Claus and he screams out, “SANTA!” with all the excitement of a brand new puppy who piddles on the floor?  That’s how excited Lily was about the Nutcracker.  Especially, I think, because Sam was taking her.  And they were dressing up.  And no one else was coming along.

She was really excited.

There are much better pictures than these on Sam’s new fancy camera but these are the two I snapped with my phone.

She was fairly glowing when she got back home.

Lots of Christmas Activity…

We have been on a merry-making tear around here!  Last weekend was full of fun and Christmas cheer.  On Saturday we woke up to go eat breakfast with Santa.  You can see that there was a little trepidation but Lily knew what to do.  She told Santa wishes she hasn’t even shared with her parents.  I hope he was listening!  Ollie was not interested in sitting on a lap but did enjoy making some crafts and eating lots of pancakes.  Later that day Sam played barber to Ollie’s beautiful baby curls.  {sniff, sniff}  I was a little bit sad–he looks like a different little man.  Finally, to celebrate, we went to dinner and our kids were just awesome-well-behaved, patient, interactive.  It was an enjoyable Saturday.

This weekend the fun continues as we scurry to get last minute foodstuffs and wrapping.  And Sunday we host a neighborhood gingerbread house making day.

Too Much Christmas Cuteness

We all attended Lily’s holiday show at preschool today.  It was just too cute.  She sang out loud and proud, Ollie buzzed around trying out all the toys and rock wall {especially after chowing down on cookies}, and Emmy relaxed in her easy-going Emmy way.  The school was sparkling  with kid-created decorations, there was plenty of coffee, hot chocolate and goodies to go around, and everyone was in a bright mood.  I am so glad {once again} we found this school!

Professional Sleep Assasins

I’d like to recognize 3 very Wee people who have contributed greatly to my recent non-sleep events-also known as nighttime or time of slumber.  I tell you, their level of sophistication, of complex coordination, is astounding.  Its like they sleep with little CB’s clutched in their hands, whispering to each other as soon as my eyes close and my breathing becomes regular.

“Don’t make a peep, yet, Emmy, she is still reading-but her eyes look heavy…should only be a 10 minutes or so.  Over and out.”

I warn you not to underestimate their devious plan of household domination.  They know that if I am worn down enough, they will have their day, I tell you!  Should you visit with these 3, be on guard.  This is your warning.IMG_1583 IMG_1586

To Miracles

Tonight, the last night of November, I am ready to spill out all my thankful thoughts from the past month.  Overflow with gratitude.  Explode in appreciation.  Acknowlegde how many miracles exist all around.  Today was full of some that I took note of in particular.

Somehow, by some miracle {see!}, Ollie finally took a nap in his bed with the door closed, Emmy slept at the same time in her crib, and Lily was content to play a game on the tap-tap for EXACTLY the amount of time I needed to do one short Ashtanga yoga video.  28 minutes to be exact.  That’s a pretty long time for a miracle to continue…

I got to set up plans with not one but FOUR friends to meet up when I am back in Birdsboro next week.  It seems that with the group of three I will see we can hardly ever find a night that works for all of us.  We have years of lengthy email threads going back and forth, desperately trying to line all our schedules up.  This happened even before the children came along.  By some MIRACLE, our schedules ALL allowed us to get together after school on Thursday.  Who’s grateful?  I am, I am!

Another miracle is I came downstairs after we all got ready this morning and I had 3 different texts waiting from 3 different favorite people in my life.  I felt so popular!

Miracle here:  just when I was looking for a little bit of extra time to pack for the drive, Lissa’s schedule allowed for a quick day trip to play on Monday!

I made yummy peanut butter chocolate chip banana bread, a delicious dinner, decorated snowflakes, cleaned a bathroom all before 3 in the afternoon.

Everyone here is safe, snug, and silent {mostly} by 8:30…miraculous!

Snug As A Bug

Oliver, sleeper in Big Boy Bed, is not sleeping well these days. Naps consist mostly of playing with Legos, stripping off clothes and yelling down to me to come get him. Today was the third fourth day in a row of no nap so we played at home and then, because he needed new sneaks, took a trip to Target. Since we had time, I thought it would be fun to stop at the playground to try out those shoes to see of they are fast.
Wouldn’t you know, the little guy is sound asleep in the backseat. I’m thankful he is catching up on his rest…would it be weird to catch a catnap here in the car, too??
